Authors' objectives:
This report aims to assess the wider application of brachytherapy in the treatment of forms of early localized prostate cancer.
Authors' recommendations:
The CEDIT is of the opinion that there are too many reservations regarding brachytherapy as a treatment for early localized prostate cancer in terms of exact indications, methodology, effectiveness and results on the quality of life, for this treatment to be widely applied. It believes that effectiveness of this technique is still under evaluation and therefore its application must be reserved to one reference center where experience has already been acquired.
