Authors' recommendations: We found three randomized clinical trials comparing left ventricular reconstruction surgery associated with coronary artery bypass versus isolated coronary artery bypass for patients with coronary artery disease. Reconstruction surgery improves left ventricular hemodynamic parameters determined as ejection fraction and left ventricular end-diastolic volume but is not associated with reduced mortality. Left ventricular reconstruction surgery should not be recommended for widespread use.
