Authors' recommendations: Studies show benefits achieved with some behavioural interventions. But these results must be interpreted with caution because of the absence of results consistency between studies, the methodological deficiencies and because the patients responses were widely variable. It is no possible to recommend the widespread use of behavioural interventions in ASD, additional quality research is necessary to identify the specific characteristics of behavioural interventions that obtain the best effectiveness and the characteristics of patients that can be benefited with those interventions.
