Authors' objectives: To determine whether percutaneous repair for MR improves health outcomes in patients with symptomatic degenerative mitral valve regurgitation who are at prohibitive risk of surgical mortality.
Authors' recommendations: Based on the uncertainty of the mortality outcomes of patients receiving MitraClip compared with their natural history, no conclusion can be reached about the device's effect on net health outcomes.
