Authors' objectives:
This study's overall objective was to draw up a patient information booklet about sarcoidosis. To achieve this general goal, the following specific goals were set, namely: to analyse the quality of sarcoidosis information
leaflets available to patients both nationally and internationally; to identify health-care information needs; to systematically review the evidence available and to draw up evidence-based educational material.
Authors' recommendations:
Different factors, such as the expansion of the patient's role in decision-making and the complexity of clinical management of sarcoidosis, call for the implementation of strategies that will allow for the active participation
of the various agents involved in the different stages of the health-care process, and will favour self-care. In this regard, active provision and integration of patient information materials in the health-care process could be of great help when it comes to improving clinical practice in sarcoidosis. This information material seeks to be a useful resource, not only for patients and their relatives but also for the health professionals involved in their clinical management, by providing quality information that will serve to foster communication and decision-making.
