Authors' objectives:

This study evaluates the relevance, for the Quebec health care system, of a significant model of community care for those with severe and persistent mental illness in most need: namely the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model.

Authors' recommendations: This report concludes that the ACT model deserves to be adopted on a wider scale, with concern for adherence to its characteristics. To this end, it suggests the development of a system of incentives and supports and the deployment of greater efforts in terms of research and evaluation. These efforts will make it possible to verify the effectiveness of existing programs, take appropriate corrective measures, and optimize adaptations of the model to the Quebec context.
