Authors' recommendations: Findings from six RCTs and one retrospective study support BPVP as a reliable alternative to TURP, with better efficacy outcomes and similar complication rates in short and medium term follow-up periods. For follow-up period up to 100 months, limited evidence showed that BPVP reduced BPH symptoms and reoperation rates compared to TURP. There was no evidence found on the cost-effectiveness of BPVP compared to TURP, for patients with BPH.
