Authors' recommendations:
Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy is used to provide passive immunity or to alter the immune response by increasing an individual's antibody titers and antigen-antibody reaction potential. IVIG has been investigated as a treatment for patients with rheumatic diseases, with the goals of alleviating symptoms and inducing sustained remissions from disease activity through anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects.
