Pyrocarbon proximal interphalangeal (PIP) and metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint implants are intended for use as a surgical treatment option for patients with symptomatic joint disease related to various types of arthritis and traumatic injury. The devices are an alternative to arthrodesis (joint fusion) or other types of total joint replacement implants (e.g., silicon, titanium-polyethylene).
