Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a nonsurgical, potentially curative cancer treatment for head and neck cancer that uses photosensitizing agents and light to kill superficial tumor cells while not harming the surrounding healthy tissue. PDT is intended as an alternative to conventional surgery, radiotherapy, or other therapies for the treatment of head and neck cancer.
