Cardiac troponin for the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome in the emergency department: a review of guidelines

CADTH
Record ID 32014000237
English
Authors' recommendations: Seven guidelines were retrieved which indicate that cardiac troponin is the preferred biomarker to inform diagnosis of ACS, and recommend that patients presenting to the emergency department have a cardiac troponin test as part of their initial assessment. There is lack of consensus across guidelines regarding the requirements for repeat troponin testing, interval for repeat testing, and the quantification of troponin elevation. Information on the interpretation of borderline elevated cardiac troponin levels was lacking. No Canadian guidelines or recommendations were identified.
