English
Authors' recommendations: Short term (seven day) treatment with topical fusidic acid resolved clinical signs and symptoms of conjunctivitis or chronic blepharitis in 76% to 91% of patients. Fusidic acid cure rates were not statistically significantly different than topical tobramycin, norfloxacin or ciprofloxacin based on three lower quality randomized controlled trials. Ocular discomfort and irritation were the most frequent adverse events associated with topical antibiotics. No data were available on the cost-effectiveness of fusidic acid for the treatment of ocular infections.
