Tranexamic acid for the management of bleeding: a review of the clinical effectiveness and guidelines

Authors' recommendations: Overall, there is evidence to suggest treatment with tranexamic acid reduces mortality from trauma related bleeding. In addition, subgroup analysis suggests treatment with 3 hours of trauma is associated with decreased mortality. However, treatment beyond three hours of trauma may be associated with an increased risk of death.
