German
Authors' objectives: This systematic review assesses the efficacy and safety of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) with drug-eluting balloon compared to PTA with uncoated balloon (UCB) for the treatment of peripheral artery disease, including extracranial carotid and vertebral artery disease, upper extremity artery disease, mesenteric artery disease, renal artery disease as well as lower extremity artery disease.
Authors' recommendations: Currently, the inclusion of PTA with DEB into the hospital benefit catalogue is not recommended. The available evidence is insufficient to assess the efficacy and safety of PTA with DEB in comparison to PTA with UCB. We recommend a re-evaluation in 2015.
