Authors' recommendations: The BridgePoint Medical System has been developed specifically to address two main challenges in performing PCI for coronary CTOs: passing a wire though the occlusion cap and re-entering the true lumen of the occluded vessel. The evidence on the clinical effectiveness and safety of the BridgePoint System for recanalization of coronary CTOs is limited to that provided by three small non-comparative studies, the evidence from the largest of which was considered sufficient for licensing purposes in both Canada and the United States. In addition, there is at least one known study evaluating the use of these devices for additional indications and which may lead to expanded use of the devices
