Nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel for non-small cell lung cancer

Record ID 32013000819
English
Authors' recommendations: Nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel; Abraxane) is a chemotherapeutic drug that is administered alone or in combination with other agents for the purpose of delaying disease progression and prolonging survival in patients who have non-small cell lung cancer. Nab-paclitaxel differs from standard paclitaxel in that it is a colloidal suspension of 130-nanometers (nm) albumin-bound nanoparticle of paclitaxel and is, therefore, free of solvents. The goal of this new nanotechnology-based formulation is to reduce toxicity and improve the bioavailability of paclitaxel.
