Authors' recommendations: This systematic review was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of FDG PET/PET-CT for the detection of the causes of FUO. The results suggest that FDG PET/PET-CT is helpful in the diagnosis of the source of origin for patients with FUO and provides useful information with the help of other tests, such as biopsy and culture, to facilitate the making of a timely definitive diagnosis.
