Authors' recommendations: Summary. Scoping identified limited clinical and cost effectiveness evidence on this topic. A 2008 Cochrane review concluded that surgery relieved symptoms better than wrist splinting, but it was unclear whether surgery was better than steroid injection and further research was needed. No subsequently published information was found to alter these conclusions. The findings from the one economic evaluation identified are not generalisable to Scotland.
