Authors' recommendations:
Photodynamic therapy will not be a first line treatment for all non-melanoma skin cancers. Rather, it is a treatment option that can be useful for patients who cannot undergo surgery or tolerate other treatments, for lesions where surgical excision will be debilitating, for lesions where cosmetic outcomes are important, and when treatment compliance may be an issue.
