Authors' recommendations: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for sacroiliac (SI) joint pain involves the use of radiofrequency (RF) current to generate heat and destroy sensory nerves to the SI joint. The goal of this therapy is to interrupt transmission of pain signals from the SI joint nerves to the brain in patients with refractory SI joint pain.
