Record ID 32013000134
English
Authors' recommendations:
Physical and mobility impairment is defined as a limitation in independent, purposeful physical movement of the body or of one or more extremities. Physical disabilities may be either congenital, or a result of injury, developmental disorders, cerebral palsy, amputation, multiple sclerosis, pulmonary disease, heart disease, or other reasons. Children with mobility impairments may also have decreased muscle strength and tone, low cardiorespiratory endurance, disorders of balance and coordination, and limited motor skills. Mobility impairments can limit participation in communitybased sports and physical activities with peers, and put children at risk for developing secondary health problems and obesity, and can reduce their quality of life.
