Authors' recommendations:
This report is a Danish commented version of an British HTA. The British HTA compares the conventional therapy with self-monitoring. The British HTA concludes that the self-monitored treatment is a safe and effective method for selected, motivated patients with special needs. The Danish commentators believe that this conclusion can be transferred to Danish conditions. The British estimates of cost-effectivenes can not be directly transferred, since there is a need for further knowledge on Danish conditions.
