Record ID 32012000567
English
Authors' recommendations: Occipital nerve stimulation (ONS) is a type of peripheral nerve stimulation that has been investigated as a way to treat medically refractory (intractable) headache disorders, including chronic cluster-type headache and migraine headache. The procedure involves the subcutaneous implantation of electrodes and consequent electrical stimulation of the suboccipital region of the scalp, with the goal of modulating the activity of the occipital nerve and its branches and thereby reducing the severity and frequency of headaches.
