Authors' recommendations:
Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring detects the presence of subclinical coronary artery disease (CAD) by measuring an individual's overall cardiac plaque burden. Performed using computed tomography (CT), CAC scoring has been investigated as a way to predict the risk of future CAD events, offering the possibility of improved risk stratification among adults who are asymptomatic for the disease.
