Authors' recommendations: Based on the limited evidence available, delayed enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (DE-MRI) appears to be comparable or better than the existing standard methods for determining myocardial viability. No large scale, randomised trials with blinded reading of results were identified nor was information found indicating their existence. Additionally, cost-effectiveness data are not available as yet. It would be expected that routine horizon scanning activities would identify any new information on DE-MRI published in the future. HealthPACT has recommended that further assessment of this technology is no longer warranted.
