Authors' recommendations:
The Trofile™ test (Monogram Biosciences Inc.) is a molecular assay that identifies the tropism of a patient's human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) strain to determine if the virus has the ability to invade CD4 cells that have the CCR5 marker on their surface. This test is designed to identify patients who are likely to benefit from treatment with a CCR5-receptor antagonist such as the drug maraviroc.
