Authors' recommendations: Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) mimic estrogen in certain body tissues and block the effects of estrogen in others. Certain SERMs, including tamoxifen and raloxifene, may be used as chemoprevention in women who are at high risk for developing breast cancer.
