[Use of QALYs in different clinical situations]

Abellán Perpiñán JM, Navarro Caballero JA
Record ID 32012000007
Spanish
Authors' objectives: To identify attributes which are potentially useful for the estimation of equity weights or relative social values of health gains, measured in QALYs.
Authors' recommendations: In summary, the evidence shows that citizens are willing to relinquish the maximization of health gains for society in order to benefit certain population groups, depending on the characteristics or attributes studied in this work. Further studies are needed to quantify the preferences, so that the "equity weights" can be established and a social wellbeing function be constructed that is useful for health policy makers.
