Authors' objectives:

Is probiotic therapy effective in prevention of Clostridium Difficle associated disease and antibiotic associated diarrhea?

Authors' recommendations: The scientific documentation of a potential beneficial effect of probiotic therapy to prevent Clostridium Difficile associated disease is insufficient, whereas there is fair documentation that it can reduce the incidence of antibiotic associated diarrhea by 30 – 40 %. However, the reduction of AAD does not affect the duration of hospitalization.
