Authors' objectives:

Does intraoperative MRI lead to better outcome in patients with intracerebral or pituitary tumours, and does it increase the neurosurgical precision?

Authors' recommendations: The scientific documentation of the eventual beneficial effects of intraoperative MR on survival is insufficient. The scientific documentation of the potential beneficial effects of intraoperative MR with regard to surgical precision, i.e. the extent of tumour tissue removal, is insufficient. The scientific documentation of intraoperative MR as a diagnostic tool during neurosurgery is limited.
