Bisphosphonates for the prevention of osteoporosis in patients treated with systematic corticosteroids: a review of the clinical evidence and guidelines

Authors' recommendations: Evidence from three systematic reviews and seven randomized controlled trials suggested that bisphosphonates prevent bone loss associated with use of oral corticosteroids. However, one systematic review and one randomized controlled trial found that the reduction in non-vertebral fractures with bisphosphonates was not statistically significant.
