English
Authors' objectives:

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) incorporates the use of an ultrasound transducer at the tip of a flexible fiberoptic or video endoscope. The ability of EUS to visualize multiple acoustic layers has led to its use for the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic cancer. The goal of EUS when used for diagnosis is to detect and characterize focal lesions or tumors.
