Authors' objectives:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the nonmalignant enlargement of the prostate gland common in older men, which causes urinary symptoms. The prostate gland surrounds the urethra and, as it grows larger, it compresses this structure resulting in urinary obstruction. The main goal in the treatment of urinary obstruction is the reestablishment of urinary flow.
