Implantable insulin pumps
Record ID 32011001325
English
Authors' recommendations:
Implantable insulin pumps (IIPs) are used to deliver insulin to diabetic patients via intraperitoneal or intravenous routes in a programmed and controlled manner. The goal of IIP therapy is to achieve control of blood glucose levels, thereby reducing the risk of acute metabolic complications, such as hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic episodes and ketoacidosis, and delaying the onset and progression of late-stage macrovascular and microvascular complications.
