Authors' recommendations:
The results suggest that the conclusions from the original report are fairly robust to most assumptions concerning unknown non enveloped infections. Only in extreme scenarios relating to the likelihood of an infection, the risk of contracting it from the blood supply and the consequences of the infection were there major changes to the incremental cost effectiveness ratios. Although such scenarios are possible without greater information regarding the likelihood and potential effects of these infections, decisions regarding the funding of Octaplas seem unlikely to be affected by their consideration.
