Bifocal lenses under +0.50 diopter: a review of the clinical effectiveness and guidelines

Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health
Record ID 32011001186
English
Authors' recommendations: Based on a review of the recent literature, no controlled studies or guidelines were identified about the effectiveness of bifocal lenses of less than +0.50 diopter. One case series suggested that near addition lenses of +0.20 to +1.28 diopter may be useful. There is insufficient evidence to make conclusions about the use of bifocal lenses when an eye prescription is less than +0.50 diopter.
