Propuesta de encuesta de salud de la comunidad autónoma vasca para la población institucionalizada en residencias (ESCAV-IR). CAPV 2010
Authors' objectives:
1. To develop a Health Survey for the elderly people living in nursing homes in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. This survey should be able to provide information on the health status of the institutionalized population for policy health making and evaluation. 2. To design the sampling procedure for the Health Survey.
Authors' results and conclusions:
Based on the findings in the literature review, and the pilot test with the first questionnaire developed, a proposal has been made on the sample as well as the questionnaire to be used in the Health Survey for the institutionalized elderly in the Basque Country.
Authors' methods:
In order to suggest the core questionnaire the first step has been a systematic review of the literature. To test its feasibility and validity in nursing homes two studies have been performed: 1) a survey in the nursing homes to know its characteristics, health information systems and health programs within the residences; and 2) a pilot test with the questionnaire in a small simple of nursing homes in the Basque Country.
