Authors' recommendations: There is a lack of evidence available on the clinical benefits and harms and cost-effectiveness on the removal of umbilical cord clamps prior to hospital discharge. No evidence was found on the risks to newborns of leaving the cord clamps attached until the umbilical cord falls off naturally.
