English
Authors' objectives:

Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) for illicit drug use is a public health intervention aimed at first identifying and recruiting illicit drug users who may be considering treatment, and then providing a brief face-to-face intervention to advise and motivate them to enter treatment, and to provide appropriate treatment. The purpose is to promote changes in the client's substance use behavior, i.e., reduction or quitting, with the assumption that this may prevent future drug-related medical, social, psychological, or legal problems.
