Record ID 32011000903
English
Authors' objectives:
The objective of photodynamic therapy for nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is to selectively destroy cancer lesions without harming the surrounding tissue. The destruction of cells within the cancerous lesion is achieved by treating each lesion with a photosensitizing compound and subsequently exposing the lesion to an appropriate light source. Photodynamic therapy is intended as an alternative to conventional surgical excision, cryotherapy, or other therapies for NMSC.
