Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) is a distinctive modality used by osteopathic physicians to complement conventional treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, including those that cause back pain. The goal for patients with back pain is to correct structural and tissue abnormalities, relieve joint restriction and misalignment, and restore muscle and tissue balance, thereby reducing pain and accompanying disability.
