Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase testing for coronary heart disease risk assessment in healthy or asymptomatic adults

Record ID 32011000889
English
Authors' objectives:

Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2), a vascular inflammatory enzyme, has been investigated as a surrogate biomarker of increased coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. Lp-PLA2 testing has been used as an adjunct to conventional CHD risk assessment in healthy or asymptomatic individuals to determine who might benefit from specific risk-reducing interventions, such as pharmacological therapies and behavior modification strategies.
