Original Title: Medicinsk problemstilling i MTV-perspektiv - penicillinbehandling ved pneumoni: oralt eller intravenøst?
Authors' objectives: The aim of this report is to consider the implications of giving penicillin by oral or intravenous administration to patients with pneumonia.
Authors' results and conclusions: Very little evidence-based research was found. Those who had compared oral and intravenous administration of penicillin had found no significant difference in the outcome.
Authors' recommendations: In Denmark pneumonia caused by pneumococci shall be treated with penicillin. Treatment initiated intravenously can be changed to oral administration as soon as the clinical condition of the patient improves.
