Authors' recommendations: 1) The recommendations of the clinical practice guidelines are mostly grade-C evidence level (based on experts opinion), except the recommendation for indication of endovascular treatment for a group of patients with a very favourable risk-benefit ratio (grade-A evidence level). 2) The two better-studied treatment comparisons (with a higher number of clinical trials) were the angioplasty without stent versus angioplaty with stent, and the endovascular versus surgical revascularization. No significant differences between alternatives were proved in any of those comparisons.
