Authors' objectives:

To summarise the available evidence on preoperative hair removal.

Authors' recommendations: This review did not find strong evidence in the literature against removing hair preoperatively. There is strong evidence to recommend that when hair removal is considered necessary, it should not be performed by shaving. Instead, electrical clipper or depilation should be used. Hair removal should be performed immediately before the operation.
