BRATS 03: Nucleic acids amplification tests (NAT) and other strategies for the detection of HIV-1 and HCV viruses in the selection of donated blood

Department of Science and Technology - Brazilian Health Technology Assessment General Coordination (DECIT-CGATS)
Record ID 32011000282
English
Authors' objectives:

Considering the importance of comparing the various selection strategies in relation to NAT tests and the absence of public studies on the topic, especially for the Brazilian reality,
the current bulletin presents some estimates on the residual risk reduction of HIV-1 and HCV virus transmission through blood. Regional blood donor incidence rates and the window
periods published in literature were used for these estimates.
