Authors' objectives:

As support for strategic planning activities within VHA’s Office of Patient Care Services (PCS), the Evidence-Based Practice Initiative Group asked the Technology Assessment Program (TAP) for a review of the literature to identify the interventions that are effective for changing clinician practice and improving patient outcomes. Within this global charge, continuing education, guideline implementation, and computerized clinical decision support systems were of focused interest.
