Authors' recommendations:
Despite an extensive and comprehensive literature search very little literature was identified to answer any of the specific questions posed. For the conditions studied, there was little evidence available on the impact of patient information on clinical outcomes. More evidence was available on behavioural and patient-focused outcomes, as well as outcomes relating to healthcare utilisation.
